Trading Alerts vs Trading Education
By Hamza Hamed · Published · Updated · 3 min read
Short answer
Trading alerts tell you what another trader bought or sold. Trading education teaches you why a setup made sense, how risk was defined and what would have invalidated the idea. Alerts can be copied, but only education builds the skill to make your own decisions. The problem with copying
- You enter at a different price than the person posting.
- Your account size and risk tolerance are different.
- You don't know their exit plan or invalidation.
- When it stops working, you don't know why.
What education adds
Education gives you the reasoning: market context, the level, the trigger, the position size, and the exit plan. With that, a trade idea becomes a lesson — useful even when it loses.
Where commentary fits
Live commentary and trade ideas can be valuable when they're explained. The question is whether the explanation is the point, or an afterthought.
The HamedTrades approach
HamedTrades is designed around education. Trade ideas and market observations may be discussed, but the objective is to help traders understand the reasoning behind decisions, including risk, sizing, entries, exits and changing conditions. Learn more about the HamedTrades trading community.
Alerts vs education
| Alert-only service | Education-focused community | |
|---|---|---|
| What you receive | Entries to copy | The reasoning behind decisions |
| Risk and sizing | Often unstated | Taught before the entry |
| Losing trades | Often not reviewed | Reviewed for lessons |
| Long-term skill | Depends on the sender | Built by the trader |
Risk considerations
Neither alerts nor education guarantee profitable outcomes. Trading involves substantial risk of loss.
Frequently asked questions
